today I'm going to tell you more about Asylum Seekers:
The Labor party (Kevin Rudd) made the policy about Asylum seekers.
the organisations and countries are Border Control, Australian Naval service, Government, Immigration Department and human rights & equal opportunity commission. The main countries involved are: Papua New Guinea, Afganhastan, Iraq mostly violent brutal places. I think this issue is so topical because the Government are debating what to do, also people have so many different opinions. I think that everyone has the right to feel safe in their own country, therefore I think the Government needs to sort out and fix the reasons why their want to flea their country to a place that is new to them.
A good summary, Lucy. What is your opinion on the matter? Do you think that people who seek asylum in Australia have a right to be processed in Australia or do you think that the Australian government is right to ask Papua New Guinea to process and settle them for us?
ReplyDeleteLucy, congratulations on the beginnings of a very interesting blog. Your reflections on asylum seeker policy displays a good understanding of the main players. Your point that the government needs to 'sort out and fix the reasons why they want to flee their country' is an aspect of the debate that you could do some more research on too. Well done, Ms Lidgerwood
